Windy City Doll Workshops
Prior to class, attendees will be sent the pattern and instructions to make Alice’s body.
In class we will work on posing her, hopefully in such a way that she will stand on her own!
Then we will make her lovely, layered costume from odds and ends of fabrics and lace.
I will send out a diagram showing what pieces and layers make up her costume along with an approximation of the amounts of fabric that will be needed. We will sew her clothing in class and then begin to work on embellishing all the pieces.
This will allow students to work on mixing and matching different fabrics and then embellishing them in such a way that will give the doll and her costuming a cohesive look and feel.
She is a lot of fun to make....not too large, not to small. And her layered costuming leaves lots of opportunities for embellishment.
Alice is approximately 12” tall.
She has a lightly needle-sculpted face and hand colored features.
In class, Angela will give a detailed demo on how to “color” her face.
Prior to the class, she will also send out a handout, that will help you, to practice drawing
a child’s face….this isn’t a must do, but just something to help everyone to feel a bit more comfortable once they get to class!
This Alice is a great doll for beginners, but also interesting enough for the seasoned doll maker.
